PICC OFFICE, ADMIRALTY
This newly renovated workplace is the latest architectural expression of PICC identity. PICC decided to more effectively utilized their office space. SJ Studio team- comprising space planners, designers, IT and construction specialists- began solidifying a scheme for the new office. The designers faced challenges, however, in the basic architecture of the space. Though Citic Tower features ‘ curve curtain wall', space planning is complicated by the structure’s. This factor militated against the conventional positioning of enclosed office along the glazed floorplate perimeter. A further concern was the space’s unusually low ceiling height of under 2.6 metres.
The reception is the heart and the first impression of the office. We have used white marble and back paint glass as the main material, which could give a sense of a more spacious reception. On the other hand, according to PICC requested, SJ Studio has allocated the meeting room at the end of the office, which has bring in the best view of Victoria Harbour into the office. The linear corridor has connected the reception and the meeting room, but also provide a demarcation of different zone of the office. The use of the glass partition of meeting room and director’s room, have increased the use of nature light in the open office, and also enhance the sense of space of the open office and director’s room in one.
